|Olympus DS - 660 Professional|
Aimed at business users, the DS-660 is a lightweight, compact digital voice recorder that lets you capture voice memos on the move, dictate letters and record presentations. The four buttons down one side of the unit give fast access to the folder menu, allow you to create a new file and record, rewind and fast-forward files. There are play, stop and erase buttons on the front of the device, but the onscreen menus are far from intuitive to navigate so keep the manual handy until you find your feet. There are five folders you can rename what you wish, where your voice or audio files should be stored. You may wish to use separate folders to store different types of information - each folder can hold up to 199 different files depending on the length of the recording. The integrated 32MB of Flash memory is enough for more than five hours of recording in short play and around 11 hours in long play mode. Unfortunately, there's no memory slot to upgrade this any further. When you are ready to start recording you can choose to make a new recording, overwrite an old file or insert new data into an existing file, which involves cueing up the data manually. The device connects to your PC or Mac either via a USB docking cradle or direct using the USB cable provided. The professional bundled software allows you to manage and playback your audio files using your PC or Mac.
